Who Am I?
Ayurvedan Oasis began in Melbourne in 2001. It arose out of a need to make Ayurveda available to the West in an authentic format, striving to be both a centre for traditional Ayurvedic treatment, and a ‘fertile spot in the desert’. Now in New Zealand, it has changed its name to Raw Veda – still a place to revive and be restored when you need it most. Consultations are held at Lake Taupo by arrangement. Juice Fasts, Ayurveda detoxes and Raw Food programs are run in several places around the country. Currently 5-day live-in programs are held, in spring, summer, autumn and winter in both Lake Taupo and Auckland. Also on offer are individually tailored juice-fast programs to meet your needs.
Louise Darragh-Law is a practitioner who first qualified in Naturopathy in 1984. She was then moved to study Classical Homoeopathy and Herbal Medicine. In 1994, Louise turned to the traditional medicine of India, attended the College of Ayurveda in London and studied with Dr Vasant Lad and Dr Robert Svoboda in the UK and India. She established Ayurvedan Oasis in Melbourne in 2001 whilst continuing to travel to India several times for advanced clinical study.
During the Melbourne years, Louise also dedicated herself to the application of a Raw Food Diet, attending seminars held by some of the world’s longest standing Raw Foodists, like Fred Bisci, Victoria Boutenko, David Wolfe, Anand Wells, Angela Stokes and Matt Monarch. Then in 2009 Louise moved back to New Zealand and embarked on a series of trips away into mature New Zealand bush for the study of traditional Maori Medicine with Rob McGowan.
Why Raw? This may seem a contradiction to those who know about Ayurveda. Every human dietary tradition on the planet began with a raw diet and now we have come so far, that the ayurvedic approach seems ancient and hard to grasp. Yet it is so important and must never be forgotten. Through a blend of ancient Ayurvedic wisdom, traditional native medicine and raw dietary principles as taught by Louise’s Guru, His Divine Presence, Avatar Adi Da Samraj – these things, often contradictory, are drawn together, blending: the wisdom of the ancients with modern scientific understanding and common sense.
Louise is a professional member of the NZ Association of Medical Herbalists, the NZ Society of Naturopaths; the Australasian Ayurvedic Practitioners Association (AAPA), the Australian Register of Homoeopaths (AROH). She is also the author of Healing Your Child, a parents’ manual offering natural cures for children’s illnesses.
With gratitude to the Divine Guru, His Divine Presence, Avatar Adi Da Samraj for His Wisdom Teachings and for the quotes which feature throughout this website. Visit www.adidam.org or www.rawgorilla.org
